From the banks of the River Feale at Listowel to Valentia Island on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the designed landscapes of the Knight of Kerry reflect a legacy of improvement, cultural advancement and a deep connection to the local environment. This paper reflects on the combination of architecture and landscape in the creation of a carefully curated atmospheric stage across the kingdom of Kerry during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
