As part of its celebrations of the Irish country house garden, the Irish Georgian Society invites you to join us for a series of lectures about the Irish Country House Garden, which will be broadcast via Zoom beginning on Friday, January 15th.

The lecture series is brought to you by the Irish Georgian Society and is proudly sponsored by Hindman, a leading fine art auction house with showrooms across the country.

The series will begin with an introductory lecture covering the history of the Irish Country House Garden from the late 17th century through the beginning of the 20th century. This lecture will include a live Q&A session.

The introductory lecture will be followed by four lectures with Robert O’Byrne in conversation with prominent Irish women painters in their studios talking about Irish Walled Gardens. An exhibition of their paintings of Walled Gardens will open on May 20, 2021 at the City Assembly House, headquarters of the Irish Georgian Society, in Dublin.

Later in the year, we will offer an additional five lectures featuring experts on Irish gardens talking about the evolution of gardens over the course of the last three hundred years. This series of talks will culminate in an Exhibition on the History of the Irish Country House Garden to open at the City Assembly House on September 23, 2021 with a tour of houses and gardens to follow.

The lecture series will be broadcast via Zoom and a link to watch each lecture will be emailed to you the day before the launch of each lecture. All lectures will be recorded and available to be viewed at your convenience.
