Sunday 23 March
Early afternoon arrival in Athens
Check into the Hotel Coco-Mat Athens BC (5*****)
Late afternoon welcome walk-through of ancient centre of Athens, including the Chorragic Monument, with host, Dan Calley. Welcome dinner.
Monday 24 March
Private coach retracing the steps of the Sacred Way from Athens to Eleusis the route taken by the procession celebrating the Eleusinian Mysteries. Guide and host will be archaeologist Popi Papangeli, for head of archaeology at Eleusis. Morning coffee followed by of the sacred district and newly refurbished museum. Luncheon before return to Athens. Evening drinks. Dinner on own.
Tuesday 25 March – Greek Independence Day
Attend Independence Day Parade followed by traditional Greek luncheon. Opportunity to visit Acropolis Museum and central Athens. Evening drinks. Dinner on own.
Wednesday 26 March
Guided by our archaeologist guide, Marika Fotouchou, a tour of the Kerameikos Cemetery & museum, Holocaust Memorial, the Acropolis of Athens, luncheon at the Acropolis Museum terrace restaurant, walking tour to include the Plaka, Agora, Hadrian’s Library, Tower of the Winds, Stoa of Attalos and Monastiraki Square. Evening drinks. Dinner on own.
Thursday 27 March
Private coach to Tatoi, former private estate and burial place of the Greek royal family, hosted by the Friends of Tatoi. Luncheon followed by private visit and tour of the Mediterranean Garden Society at Sparoza. Farewell reception and dinner at the private Athens Club hosted by journalist and writer, Bruce Clark, author of Athens: City of Wisdom.
Friday 28 March
Visit to Greek National Historical Museum in the former Greek Parliament building. Private tour of the Benaki Museum and luncheon followed by private tour of the Ghika Gallery. Evening departure from Athens.*

PRICE INFORMATION: Cost per person sharing €1,795. Single supplement €440. This includes 5 nights bed and breakfast in 5 Star hotel; entrance fees and private guides; transport to and from all venues; two dinners with wine; five lunches with wine and €200 contribution to the IGS. Flights are not included.

· Balance payment will be made directly to the Irish Georgian Society and balance due date will be advised at a later date.
