April 2022 – International Tour to Naples

Staying in the heart of the old Borbon city, we will trace the residences used by the royal couple Ferdinand I and Maria-Carolina of the Two Sicilies, whose court drew many notable visitors, including the Hamiltons. We will visit the Capodimonte and the Royal Palace, including the San Carlo Theatre. We will see two residences belonging to the family of the Prime Minister Sir John Acton, the Villa Pignatelli and Palazzo Cellammare. An excursion to Caserta, the vast ‘royal hunting box’ modelled on Versailles, will include a visit to the famous San Leucio 'silk factory' and a private palazzo. There will also a visit to Herculaneum and the National Archaeological Museum, as well as a final dinner in a palazzo with a spectacular view over the Bay of Naples.
