The Irish Georgian Society is planning a magnificent trip to the historic sites of Northern Ethiopia with Dr Richard Marsh as our guide. With direct flights to Addis Ababa from Dublin (and London), the tour will begin in Addis and continue northwards to visit the historic sites of Lalibela to see the sunken rock churches; Axum where the Ark of the Covenant is reputed to be kept; Gondar, the former capital of Ethiopia with impressive castles and churches; Bahir Dar on the shores of Lake Tana to see richly painted monasteries on islands and peninsulas of the lake and the spectacular falls of the Blue Nile. The trip will be accompanied by an IGS representative. A more detailed itinerary available on request.
