The Limerick Chapter of the Irish Georgian Society are delighted to take part in the celebrations of Jane Austen's bicentenary. Jane Austen had a special connection to Limerick, as her close companion, Thomas Lefroy, whom she was once expected to marry, was a Limerick man. Many believe that he was the model for Mr Darcy, as Jane was writing Pride and Prejudice during their courtship.
We are particularly thrilled to have Sandra Lefroy as our speaker for this event. Sandra will present an interesting thesis on a possible connection between Jane and Wordsworth. This lecture is made all the more special as Sandra's own lineage is that of Wordsworth and her husband's that of Lefroy, so her familiarity with these characters is second to none. This is one not to be missed!
No. 1 Pery Square Hotel, Pery Square, Limerick, at 8pm. €5 entry.
