The Society of Artists exhibitions of 1766-80 took place in a city changing in both in appearance and sensibility. The exhibitions catered to a public recently converted to Palladian architecture, with tastes and aesthetic expectations increasingly shaped by the experience of the Grand Tour. Arran Henderson of Dublin Decoded leads a walking tour around the South William Street district drawing on details of both local artists and patrons, in an attempt to sketch out some of the context and flavour of those times.
Booking required. Duration: 2 hours.
