Dun Laoghaire has a long history of yachting since early in the 19th century and from the 1840’s has had three yacht clubs built along the shoreline of its magnificent harbour.
A visit to all three, starting at the Royal Irish at 10.30am from which we will stroll up to the Royal St George for a visit and lunch on the terrace. After lunch we will conclude our visit at the neighbouring National, formerly known as the Edward Yacht Club.
Peter Pearson, writer of Between the Mountains and the Sea, the history of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County, will be our guide accompanied by Rose Mary Craig of the IGS Events Committee.
