The Irish Landmark Trust have kindly invited the Young Irish Georgians to their headquarters on Parnell Square for an evening social in April. ILT CEO Niamh Lunny will take our group on a tour of the building, which is soon to undergo a major capital restoration project. Niamh will also introduce us to the work of the Trust and discuss Termon House, Co. Donegal, which is the heritage project we are supporting in 2022.
11 Parnell Square is the earliest and was for a time, the largest house on the new street laid out by Luke Gardiner (c. 1699-1755) and named Cavendish Street, for William Cavendish (1698-1755). Rutland Square (renamed Parnell Square in 1933) was laid out as a residential square between 1753 and 1785.
This is an opportunity to meet some of your fellow YIGs and learn about the work of another of Ireland's important built heritage organisations.
Please be aware that due to the historic nature of the building it does not presently have universal access.
YIG events are organised for young members of the Irish Georgian Society, aged under 40.
